A new national award has been launched to celebrate and support emerging Australian songwriting talent, with entries now open for the inaugural Diana Torossian Emerging Songwriter Award.

Open to APRA AMCOS members pursuing a professional songwriting career, the award is geared toward those already building a body of commercial work.

Named in honour of the late music industry powerhouse Diana Torossian, the award recognises her lasting impact on Australiaโ€™s songwriting scene. It aims to carry forward her legacy of championing behind-the-scenes talent.

The winner will receive a $5,000 cash prize along with $20,000 worth of high-level songwriting and mentoring sessions with some of the biggest names in the business, including DNA’s David Musumeci and Anthony Egizii, pop artist Evie Irie, and producer Michael Fatkin.

A second prize valued at $6,500 will offer one lucky songwriter a place in the Australian Songwriters Conferenceโ€™s year-long career development course, the Songwriter Success Masterplan.

Entries are open to APRA AMCOS members based in Newcastle and Australia until 5.30pm AEST on Monday 16 June 2025, with winners set to be announced at a special industry event in Sydney on 24 July 2025. To apply or find out more info, head to apraamcos.com.au.
