Now in its third year, applications for the prestigious Indigenous Storytellers Scholarship, spearheaded by Façon Australia and Greater Bank, are open. The scholarship provides a platform for storytellers across various creative disciplines to share their unique voices.
This year, Greater Bank has reinforced its commitment to fostering creativity by awarding the scholarship’s top recipient $10,000 to pursue their artistic aspirations. In an exciting first, the financial institution will also extend a $1,000 grant to each of the remaining eight finalists, ensuring broader recognition and support for a diverse range of talent.
The scholarship embraces storytelling across multiple categories, including writing, fashion design, accessory design, art painting, music, dance, digital art, film, and photography. Beyond financial assistance, all nine finalists will benefit from invaluable mentorship opportunities with industry leaders, helping them develop their skills and establish meaningful connections within their respective fields.
“It has been wonderful to support the Indigenous Storytellers Scholarship and witness the incredible talent of our storytellers.” Awabakal Board Member and Indigenous Employment Partner at the University of Newcastle, Simone Jordan said.
“This initiative not only celebrates Indigenous voices but also fosters meaningful connections between culture, community and the creative industry. Seeing the impact of this Scholarship over the past three years has been truly inspiring.”
Applications will close on 1 May 2025, with the winner announced at a special NAIDOC Week event on 10 July 2025. You can find all of the details and submission guidelines at faconaustralia.com.
