Newcastle fitness fans are being invited to put their training to the test when BFT launches the PODIUM Series, a global team fitness competition taking place at local studios this August.
The inaugural event will be held simultaneously across more than 300 Body Fit Training (BFT) studios in over 10 countries on Sunday 2 August, giving Newcastle participants the chance to compete against teams from around the world without leaving their local gym.
Better still, the event is open to everyone, with non-members encouraged to sign up alongside BFT’s global community of more than 65,000 members.
The PODIUM Series taps into the growing popularity of hybrid fitness, combining functional strength and conditioning challenges into a competitive race format.
Teams of two can enter in men’s, women’s or mixed divisions and choose between Rookie, Open or Pro categories, making the event accessible to first-timers and experienced athletes alike.
Competitors will tackle four 15-minute zones testing strength, conditioning, strength endurance and a final challenge known simply as the Finisher.
Every participating BFT studio around the world will run exactly the same course under the same conditions, allowing teams in Newcastle to compare their results on a worldwide leaderboard against competitors from cities including London, Singapore and Melbourne.
The event has been designed around BFT’s science-backed training model, with the PODIUM format now integrated into the franchise’s regular class timetable to help members prepare in the lead-up to race day.
The aim is to give everyday gym-goers a tangible goal to work towards while building motivation, accountability and community inside each studio.
The BFT PODIUM Series takes place on Sunday 2 August 2026 at participating Body Fit Training studios, including locations across Newcastle and the Hunter. To find your nearest participating studio or register your team, visit bodyfittraining.com.
