Old Friends is bringing jazz, pop, Broadway and plenty of laughs to Flamingos Live in Lambton, with Bob Downe, Rupert Noffs, Bev Kennedy and special guest Amber Martin set for a big night of cabaret.
Following a cult-hit Sydney residency and two national tours of CHOOSE BOB! 40 Ridiculous Years, the trio is returning to the stage with a more intimate show built around live music, comedy and the chemistry of long-time friends.
At the centre of the night will be Mark Trevorrow, better known as Australian comedy icon Bob Downe, alongside host and performer Rupert Noffs and ARIA Award-winning musical director Bev Kennedy.
For the Newcastle show, the lineup will be joined by New York-based performer Amber Martin, fresh from touring internationally with Scissor Sisters.
The musical program promises an eclectic mix of jazz standards, pop classics, show tunes and unexpected gems, with songs spanning the work of Stephen Sondheim, Burt Bacharach, Cole Porter, Noël Coward, Peter Allen and the Bee Gees.
Kennedy will lead the music from the piano as the performers weave their way through duets, singalongs and Broadway showstoppers.
Between the songs, audiences can expect showbiz stories, laughs, surprises and plenty of unpredictable onstage antics.
The show has developed a devoted following for its combination of glorious live music, nostalgia and genuine friendship, with no two performances quite the same.
