The Newcastle Whisky and Craft Spirits Festival is set to return to Bartholomew’s in August, bringing Australia’s biggest celebration of whisky and craft spirits back to the heart of Newcastle.

More than 30 distilleries and over 100 different spirits will be showcased during the one-day event, giving enthusiasts the chance to sample a diverse range of local and international producers.

Since launching in 2019, the festival has established itself as one of Newcastle’s most popular annual drinks events, attracting hundreds of visitors for an afternoon dedicated to tastings, food and educational experiences. This year’s line-up features major international brands alongside independent Australian distilleries, with whisky, bourbon, gin, rum, vodka, tequila and liqueurs all represented.

Festival organiser Phil Elsley said the event was created to give Newcastle the kind of premium spirits festival typically found in Australia’s capital cities.

“We have some incredible distilleries coming to Newcastle, but we still need the local community to get behind the event,” Phil said.

General admission includes unlimited tastings, a commemorative festival tasting glass, food and access to all exhibitors throughout the event and allows you to meet distillers, learn more about their products and purchase bottles from their favourite producers to take home.

There’s also a VIP experience available.

The Newcastle Whisky and Craft Spirits Festival will take over Bartholomew’s on Saturday, 8 August. More information and tickets can be found at wacsfestival.com.au.
