Hunter Drama is rolling out the red carpet this June with Hollyweird, a musical comedy that takes audiences behind the glamour and chaos of Hollywood’s golden age.

Set in the heyday of the studio system, the production follows a group of ambitious young performers who arrive in Tinseltown chasing dreams of fame and fortune.

What they discover is a world filled with larger-than-life directors, tap-dancing leading men, hidden scandals and the harsh realities of an industry where success can be as fleeting as a camera flash.

As the aspiring stars navigate auditions, rivalries and backstage drama, the pressure begins to build towards opening night. With plenty of laughs, colourful characters and old-Hollywood charm, Hollyweird promises an entertaining look at the gap between silver-screen fantasy and reality.

The production showcases the talents of Hunter Drama’s young performers, with five separate casts sharing the spotlight across the season.

Each performance features a different cast, giving dozens of local actors the opportunity to bring the story’s quirky characters and energetic musical numbers to life.

Packed with comedy, music and theatrical spectacle, Hollyweird celebrates the excitement of chasing big dreams while poking fun at the excesses and eccentricities of classic Hollywood.

Hollyweird runs from 20 to 27 June 2026, presented by Hunter Drama. Performances will feature Casts A through E across the season, with shows scheduled at 2pm and 7pm on selected dates and a final 11am performance on Saturday, 27 June. Tickets and performance information are available through civictheatrenewcastle.com.au.
