NEWCASTLE ROCKS THE WEEKEND

Treehouse Children @ The Small Ballroom

Well the weekend is almost upon us again so here are our photos from the shows we visited last weekend to get you in the mood for the weekend ahead.

We caught the lovely and very talented Kylie Jane opening for Pete Murray at Newcastle’s newest live music hot spot The Depot on Beaumont, I have to say it was a fantastic night of music and fine food at this unique three level venue.

Friday was a big one with the fabulous Courtney Love at Newcastle Panthers supported Melbourne’s Punk/Rock Outfit The Mercy Kills, it was a poor turnout crowd wise for what was a great show. Then it was off to a packed Cambridge Hotel for some great tunes and sweet harmonies from one of our favourites Busby Marou.

Saturday Night saw us at The Small Ballroom for Glass Towers supported by three young local bands, Level Head, Treehouse Children and Lunar Villa, who all had killer sets.

As all ways play hard, stay safe and enjoy the weekend of live music ahead.

At 16 years old, on a balmy May Friday night way back in 1975. I rolled up to the Forestville Youth Centre (The Forrie Bop) tickets were a couple of dollars and the band on the night included the likes of Bon Scott, Angus Young, Malcolm Young, Paul Matters and Phil Rudd, yes ‘ACDC’ all for $2.00, can you believe that.
