Façon Magazine has crowned 49-year-old Newcastle local, Michelle Butcher, as the winner of their 2023 model search.
The competition began in March at the Newcastle Show, where aspiring models strutted their stuff on the runway.
From there, thirteen finalists were carefully selected by a panel with each finalist displaying their confidence on-set during a professional photoshoot, complete with hair and makeup by Newcastle’s WAK The Salon and outfits from local clothing brands Fayt the Label and Privvy Fashion.
“I didn’t anticipate that I would win this, I am really blown away,” Michelle said.
“I did this for myself, and the fact that I get to continue to do this is really incredible.
“It was really lovely getting to know everybody on set and I’ve had the most incredible time, I just can not wait for this next shoot. I can’t believe I’m going to be a feature model.”
Editor in Chief and Founder of Façon Magazine, Lara Lupish described the model search as an inspiring celebration of individuality.
“Choosing just one winner was an extremely tough decision as all thirteen finalists are beautiful, but Michelle’s confidence and poise just shine,” Lara said.

Due to an overwhelming amount of social media support, Façon Magazine also introduced a People’s Choice runner-up prize, which went to Agneth Chathouk.
As the People’s Choice runner-up, Chathouk will receive a professional portfolio shoot to kick-start her modelling career.
The upcoming Façon Magazine summer issue, scheduled for release in November 2023, will feature all thirteen finalists. You can find out more by visiting faconaustralia.com.
