Lisa Simone will return to Australia in 2026 with a powerful tribute to her mother, Dr Nina Simone, and Newcastle is set to be one of the lucky stops.

The tour marks a significant homecoming for fans who witnessed her sold-out performances across major cities during her previous Australian visits.

Her 2026 run will see her revisit the iconic catalogue of Nina Simone, delivering classics with a depth and emotional intensity that only a daughter and fellow artist can summon.

From Feelin’ Good to I Put a Spell on You, audiences can expect a journey through some of the most enduring songs of the 20th century.

Lisa Simone has built a career that stands confidently alongside the formidable legacy she honours. With a Grammy nomination, chart-topping albums, and starring turns in major Broadway productions, she has carved her own path while carrying forward her family’s storytelling tradition.

Her voice, described as lush, commanding and transcendent, has earned praise around the world and cemented her status as a singular performer in contemporary jazz and soul.

Her stage catalogue is as impressive as her vocal power. Simone originated leading roles in Disney’s Aida and The Lion King, toured nationally in Rent, and released the acclaimed big-band album Simone on Simone, created as a musical homage to her mother.

She also co-produced the Oscar-nominated documentary What Happened, Miss Simone?, further solidifying her role as both guardian and champion of her mother’s cultural impact.

For Newcastle audiences, the upcoming show is promised to be a unique blend of musical excellence, emotional storytelling and pure artistic presence.

Backed by an exceptional band, Simone will breathe new life into timeless songs while inviting audiences into an intimate, heartfelt tribute. The Newcastle date is presented with support from Great Southern Nights.

Lisa Simone will perform at the Civic Theatre Newcastle on Thursday, 15 May. Tickets are on sale now via lisasimonemusic.com.
