Playlunch are bringing their bogan-funk chaos to King Street Hotel as part of their massive Sex Ed Regional Tour.
Fresh off the success of their 2025 album Sex Ed, the Melbourne seven-piece are gearing up for a huge run of dates stretching across late 2025 and deep into 2026.
Known for high-energy, nostalgia-soaked live shows, the band are set to unleash their uniquely Australian blend of funk, sharp wit and chaotic humour on Newcastle fans this summer.
Playlunch have carved out a cult following since forming in 2022, proudly embracing their self-described “bogan funk” and the small, hyper-relatable details of Aussie life.
Their lyrics nod to Zooper Doopers, Healthy Harold and suburban supermarkets, all delivered with a cheeky fondness that has become their signature. With seven members on stage, their shows lean into the fun, messy, backyard-party spirit that audiences can’t get enough of.
Their latest album has pushed them even further into the national spotlight. Sex Ed arrived in August with positive reviews, thanks in part to its tongue-in-cheek storytelling and viral singles.
Keith exploded online with its tale of one very frustrated suburban homeowner, bolstered by a music video featuring AFL’s Barry Hall and a hotline inviting fans to share their own Keith encounters. Another standout track, Real Estate Apps, tapped into the housing struggle with help from Aunty Donna and activist Jordan van den Lamb.
With momentum soaring, the Sex Ed Regional Tour marks Playlunch’s biggest undertaking yet, 29 dates stretching the length of the East Coast.
For Newcastle, that means a big, loud, sweat-soaked night of bogan-funk mayhem at King Street, where the band’s blend of satire, storytelling and irresistible grooves is set to take over the room.
