Beloved Aussie genre-benders The Cat Empire are set to light up Bar On The Hill in Newcastle in August, bringing their electrifying live show to town as part of a massive national tour celebrating their tenth studio album, Bird in Paradise.
The Newcastle stop is one of the first chances for Australian fans to experience Bird in Paradise live — a kaleidoscopic blend of flamenco, funk, Latin, jazz and Creole influences.
Fresh off a massive 61-date international tour and a show-stealing set at Bluesfest, the band’s return to home soil promises to be nothing short of explosive.
Known for their high-energy performances and boundary-pushing sound, The Cat Empire’s latest album is a bold reinvention.
Recorded live in-studio with a focus on groove, spontaneity and storytelling, Bird in Paradise captures the spirit of a band still evolving two decades into their career.
With flamenco dancers and borderless musical arrangements, the tour is set to be a technicolour celebration of culture and rhythm.
Joining them on the road are Central Coast indie-folk trio Little Quirks, whose infectious harmonies and foot-stomping energy have earned them a fast-growing fan base.
The Cat Empire will hit the Bar On The Hill in Newcastle on Saturday, 16 August 2025. Tickets go on sale Thursday, 22 May at 12pm via thecatempire.com. Don’t miss your chance to catch one of Australia’s most iconic live acts in full flight.
