A fresh vision is underway for one of Newcastle’s most iconic neighbourhoods, with the East End Collective unveiling a unified campaign under the banner Newcastle East 2300 (NE).
The initiative aims to position the precinct as a must-visit destination for locals and visitors alike, highlighting its mix of beaches, bars, restaurants, retail and theatres.
Formed in early 2025 by five passionate business owners, the East End Collective quickly secured a major grant from the NSW Government’s Office of the 24-Hour Economy to support the precinct’s revitalisation.
The funding has been pivotal in shaping a dynamic new brand, marketing strategy and community-focused programs designed to showcase Newcastle East’s unique offerings.
At the heart of the campaign is collaboration. The NE website and social media channels provide a centralised platform for local businesses, encouraging idea-sharing, partnerships and greater reach for operators across the district.
The brand seeks to amplify stories from the area, celebrate its character, and invite more people to experience everything Newcastle East has to offer.
The launch of NE took place at a rooftop event atop Hunter Parking & Storage on Bolton Street, attended by more than 100 local business owners.
The precinct is making nights out even easier with accessible parking deals, just $5 after 5pm for up to five hours, or $18 for overnight parking until 8am, helping visitors explore the area without hassle.
The initiative also introduces curated experiences such as The Newcastle East Guided Foodie Tour, celebrating the precinct’s history and iconic dining destinations.
Newcastle Food Month is supporting 22 participating restaurants this April, with events and Plate Dates designed to draw visitors and foster collaboration across the district.
Newcastle East 2300 is now live, inviting businesses and the community to get involved and explore the precinct. For more information, visit newcastleeast.com.au or follow Newcastle East 2300 on Facebook and Instagram to stay up to date with events, tours and local collaborations.
