Infamous website Ashley Madison has released a list of the top 20 cities for cyber affairs during social Isolation – And Newcastle has made the top 3.
The “married dating” website says they have seen an increase of people signing up for their cyber affair services since the COVID-19 pandemic began, with the site reporting an average of 17,000 new member registrations a day.
Chief Strategy Officer for Ashley Madison, Paul Keable says that Ashley Madison’s new members are seeking “alternative pathways” to help them cope during self-isolation.
“These cyber affairs serve as a release valve for individuals dealing with increased pressures in their marriage and domestic lives,” he said.
While New South Wales has taken out the top three spots, with Newcastle coming in at number 3 on the list, it’s Queensland that’s really leading the way. The sunshine state has seven of its cities on the list, joining other popular tourist destinations like Canberra, Adelaide, Cairns, Sydney, and Melbourne.
