Strangers to vinyl and seasoned crate-diggers alike are set to descend on Newcastle this weekend, with the Hunter Record Fair returning for a huge day of music treasure-hunting on Saturday.
This yearโs event once again takes over Kotara High School, transforming the space into a sprawling market packed with vinyl, CDs and hidden gems from decades of music history.
The fair has built a loyal following in the region, known for attracting serious collectors, casual browsers and anyone with a soft spot for physical music.
Stallholders will be offering an enormous mix of new and second-hand stock, spanning everything from rock, pop and soul to punk, reggae, metal, hip-hop, jazz and niche subgenres.
Whether youโre chasing a first pressing, building a starter collection or hunting for something strange and wonderful, chances are itโll be on a table somewhere.
Collectors can expect the usual spread of LPs, 45s and CDs, with organisers promising plenty of rarities and special finds. The fair is famous for its โget in earlyโ advantage, with the best crates often disappearing fast into the arms of sharp-eyed shoppers.
While some stallholders will have EFTPOS available, organisers recommend coming prepared with cash and a sturdy bag, the kind of essentials that make the difference when you unexpectedly leave with an entire stack of albums you never knew you needed.
The Hunter Record Fair runs this Saturday, 9 May from 9amโ4pm at Kotara High School, with $5 early-bird entry from 9โ10am and $2 entry after 10am. Shoppers can find full details via our Gig Guide.
