Hunter households are set to cash in and clean out this November when Garage Sale Trail 2025 rolls into town.

The nation’s biggest second-hand treasure hunt will take over driveways, garages and front yards across two weekends on 8-9 and 15-16 November.

Locals are being urged to turn clutter into cash by hosting their own sales, with free how-to guides, marketing materials and handy tips available to make the process simple.

For shoppers, it’s an opportunity to bag a bargain, stock up on everyday essentials, or score a one-of-a-kind second-hand find.

Beyond the thrill of bargain hunting, the event also highlights the value of reusing and recycling. By encouraging households to rethink waste, Garage Sale Trail plays a role in keeping quality items out of landfills.

Last year’s event saw more than 90 garage sales pop up just across Maitland, with the community collectively saving over $115,000 by opting for pre-loved goods instead of buying new. In total, 4,800 participants helped generate over $47,000 for the local economy.

With those numbers set to grow in 2025, the Garage Sale Trail is shaping up to be not only a chance to save money but also a way to strengthen community connections. Every garage door opened and every item rehomed adds to a movement that celebrates sustainability while boosting household budgets.

The Garage Sale Trail runs across Australia on 8-9 and 15-16 November. Registrations to host a sale are free and now open via www.garagesaletrail.com.au.
