Mincham gets potty in Newcastle

Highly respected Australian potter, Jeff Mincham AM, from Cherryville in South Australia, will be in Newcastle on Friday, July 11 to officially open an exhibition at Back to Back Galleries.

Jeff has been recognised by both the SA State Government and the Australian Federal Government for “service to the visual arts as a ceramic artist, to a range of contemporary craft organisations, and to the community of South Australia.” He received the Centenary Medal in 2001 and was made a Member of the Order of Australia in 2011.In 2009 Jeff became the recipient of the title Living Treasure-Masters of Australian Craft. This award was initiated by Object Gallery and is supported by the Australian Craft and Design Centre network.

Members of Inc who own Back to Back Galleries have been inspired by Jeff’s works and their upcoming group exhibition is dedicated as a tribute to him. The centrepiece of this exhibition is a display of three of Jeff’s recent works. These pieces will be part of his next touring exhibition and as yet have never been seen in NSW.

The official opening and address by Jeff Mincham AM will be at 7.00pm on Friday, July 11 2014 and the exhibition titled “Inspired” will run from July 11 until July 27.
