Midwife-turned-comedian Sarah Stewart is bringing her hit stand-up show Midwife Crisis to the Newcastle Fringe Festival, offering audiences a hilarious and unfiltered look at life in the labour ward and beyond.
With decades of experience as a midwife, wife, and mother, Sarah is embracing comedy to share the trials and triumphs of her journey with a healthy dose of wit and irreverence.
Sarah has been making waves in the comedy scene since 2020, quickly earning recognition as part of the acclaimed comedy group The Women’s Room, which was nominated for Best of Comedy at the 2023 Sydney Fringe Festival. Now stepping out solo, she has already sold out performances in Canberra, the North Australian Festival of Arts, and the Adelaide Fringe.
Her Newcastle shows promise an evening filled with sharp observations and outrageous storytelling, proving that there’s plenty of life and laughs after 60.
As one of the few female comedians over 60 in the industry, Sarah is on a mission to challenge stereotypes and showcase the humor in growing older. Audiences in Newcastle can expect an evening of laughter, wit, and maybe even a few midwifery tales they weren’t expecting.
Sarah Stewart has four performances of Midwife Crisis scheduled over the weekend of 21 March at the Newy Hotel as part of the Newcastle Fringe Festival. Tickets are now on sale with concession options at newcastlefringe.com.au.
