Newcastle’s premier harness racing event, the AVE Technologies Newcastle Mile, is back at the Newcastle Paceway for 2025.

A HUB OF ENTERTAINMENT
The Newcastle Paceway will transform into an entertainment hub, offering a range of dining and social experiences. For those looking for a VIP experience, The Glasshouse restaurant will serve a three-course meal, accompanied by a live performance from talented local artist Lili Crane. Meanwhile, the concourse will cater to casual attendees with food trucks, the Track Canteen, and picnic table options, allowing guests to enjoy the summer night with live music and racing action.
LIVE MUSIC & FAMILY FUN
Music lovers will be treated to a free outdoor concert featuring The Mixed Tape Duo, known for their high-energy performances and crowd-favourite tunes. For families, the night will offer plenty of entertainment, including face painting, mini golf, and special appearances from the NHRC Mini Trotters. These pint-sized competitors will bring an extra dose of charm as they take to the track throughout the evening.
THE DACHSHUND MINI MILE
One of the most anticipated events of the night is the Petquarters Dachshund Mini Mile, a race featuring adorable dachshunds in a battle of speed and cuteness. This year, the competition heats and finals will take place indoors in the Barn, ensuring an exciting and accessible experience for both spectators and participants. Registered pups will be featured in the official race book, with cash prizes, trophies, and puppy goodies up for grabs.
CASH SWEEPSTAKES
Adding to the excitement is the $1,000 Cash Sweepstakes, with proceeds benefiting the John Hunter Children’s Hospital Kids Club. Volunteers from the organization will be selling entry tickets on the night, giving attendees a chance to win big while supporting a great cause. The sweepstakes will allow lucky winners to draw a runner in the feature race, making the Newcastle Mile even more thrilling.
