Meet the duo in charge of this year’s Bigsound lineup

BIGSOUND, the Southern Hemisphere’s largest music industry event, are now accepting artist applications for the 2024 event. And, this year, Select Music’s Casey O’Shaughnessy and Village Sound’s Katie Rynne have landed the job choosing the acts that will end up showcasing in Brisbane this September.

The annual festival has been providing artists from around the country an opportunity to perform in front of industry reps from all over the world since it first launched over 20 years ago.

A stack of artists who have showcased at the event have gone on to do massive things on the global stage including Flume, Tones and I, Rufus du Sol, Thelma Plum, Gang of Youths, A.B. Original, Courtney Barnett and The Jungle Giants.

“We are thrilled to welcome Casey O’Shaughnessy and Katie Rynne to the team,” QMusic and BIGSOUND CEO Kris Stewart said.

“The title of BIGSOUND Music Programmer requires a level of knowledge and connection to the Australian and global music industry uniquely found in their three decades of combined experience.”

Casey O’Shaughnessy is a highly sought-after senior booking agent in the country. At Select Music Casey manages an impressive lineup of artists and plays a pivotal role in nurturing and advancing some of Australia’s most successful touring acts.

Katie Rynne, a former colleague at Select Music, has ascended to the role of senior booking agent at Village Sounds. This Sydney-based agency operates under the Secret Sounds Group, managing renowned festivals such as Splendour In The Grass and Harvest Rock.

BIGSOUND will take over Fortitude Valley in Brisbane from the 3rd to the 6th of September 2024. Applications for artists and acts wanting to showcase at the event are now open. Visit to find out more.
