It wasn’t a very McHappy Day for lovers of the golden arches when McDonald’s closed its outlet in Stockland Mall. But in good news for local fast food burger fiends, Ronald and his mates are now working on a new, stand-alone Macca’s for the suburb.

The fast food giant says that the new outlet, which will soon open at 11 Blue Gum Road, will inject $4 million into the local economy and create 100 construction jobs and 120 operational jobs.

“We are excited to start construction on a new restaurant in Newcastle and create 100 construction jobs, as well as a further 120 operational jobs once the restaurant opens,” Matthew Watson, Operations Manager for McDonald’s Jesmond, said.

“McDonald’s Jesmond is committed to playing an active role in the local community through providing jobs, training and development opportunities, as well as supporting local charities and groups that are important to our customers and people.

“We look forward to serving up our great tasting, great quality menu once the restaurant opens later this year.”

The new Macca’s will feature a range of amenities, including a convenient drive-thru service, a dedicated partner delivery room, a McCafe section, and a PlayPlace for families and children to enjoy.

In line with the company’s commitment to environmental responsibility, McDonald’s Jesmond is also embracing sustainability.

The restaurant will be fully equipped with solar panels, a heat recovery water system, and energy-efficient LED lights. These eco-friendly features underscore McDonald’s dedication to reducing emissions and conserving energy.

McDonald’s is hiring various crew, barista, management and maintenance roles in restaurants across Newcastle. For more information or to apply for a role, visit careers.mcdonalds.com.au.
