The Maitland Community Markets continue to draw hundreds of visitors to the Maitland Showground, offering a vibrant monthly showcase of local makers, growers and small businesses.
Held on the first Sunday of every month from 9am to 1pm, with an additional market held in November, the popular event has become a favourite destination for anyone looking to shop local and enjoy a relaxed community day out.
Proudly hosted by the Hunter River Agricultural & Horticultural Association (HRA & HA), the not-for-profit markets do more than support local stallholders. Every dollar raised through stallholder fees is reinvested into running the markets and maintaining the historic Maitland Showground, helping preserve one of the Hunterโs most important community venues.
Visitors can browse more than 100 stalls featuring handmade crafts, homegrown produce, locally made products and unique gifts, while food trucks and live entertainment create a welcoming atmosphere for the whole family. With a mix of indoor and outdoor stalls spread across the expansive showgrounds, thereโs plenty of space to explore at a leisurely pace.
Located at 50 Blomfield Street, South Maitland, the 84-acre showground is easily accessible from across the Hunter and beyond. Whether travelling by car via the Pacific Highway, Sydney motorway, New England Highway or Golden Highway, or arriving by train from Newcastle and surrounding areas, the markets are an easy day trip for visitors from across the region.
The Maitland Community Markets are held from 9am to 1pm on the first Sunday of every month, with an extra market in November. Visitors are encouraged to bring cash as there is no ATM on site, although many stallholders also offer EFTPOS facilities. Dogs are welcome provided they remain on a leash and owners clean up after them, making it a great outing for the whole familyโincluding the four-legged members.
