Illusionist Michael Boyd is bringing Circus of Illusion to the Civic Theatre this Easter, delivering cutting-edge magic, circus spectacle and high-octane theatrical mayhem for two shows only.
Boyd, known to many from his run as a finalist on Australia’s Got Talent, leads audiences into a dreamlike world where classic circus charm meets state-of-the-art illusion.
The production promises a dazzling collision of sawdust, sequins and contemporary stagecraft, creating an immersive escape perfect for the Easter break.
The show blends death-defying escapes, big-scale illusions, mime, magic and a troupe of international performers, all wrapped in eye-catching costumes and atmospheric staging.
The result is a glittering, modern twist on old-school circus tradition, balancing nostalgia with fresh, unpredictable energy.
At the centre of the spectacle is Boyd’s charismatic ringmaster, guiding audiences through a series of mesmerising set pieces.
Among the highlights is rola bola sensation Sascha Williams, whose gravity-defying balance act is known for keeping crowds breathless and guessing with every precarious movement.
Circling above and around the chaos, glamorous showgirls soar, vanish and reappear as illusions unfold in rapid succession. Elaborate props, large-scale effects and a relentless pace ensure the show continually shifts shape, offering moment after moment designed to astonish and delight.
Circus of Illusion is coming to the Civic Theatre Newcastle on Tuesday, 7 April with performances at 2pm and 6:30pm. Tickets range from $59 to $79 plus handling charges and are available via civictheatrenewcastle.com.au.
