LOZOTTE’S – LIVE ‘N’ LOCAL: In Motion, Codi Kay & Huckleberry

We dropped into Lizotte’s last night to catch their Live N Local night and were treated to three sets of great local live music. The night bounced through a mixed a bag of genres with everything from Ragtime to foot stomping rock.

Codi Kay

Singer song writer Codi Kay kick the night off with a beautiful set mixed with classy covers and cool originals. Some real highlights were a brilliant cover of The Band Perry’s ‘If I Die Young’ and Codi’s haunting original ‘Humanity’

Huckleberry

Up next was Huckleberry (Ryan Mcilwain) with his Ragtime Blues, Ryan’s laidback style and dry humour made for a fun set with a guest appearance from Blair Wilkinson on spoons a real highlight. Ryan played a mix of originals and covers, true to Ryan’s laid manner he hadn’t got around to naming most of his original yet.
In Motion

Closing the night with a bang was young Newcastle rockers In Motion, who sent Lizotte’s into overdrive after the laid back first two sets. The Single ‘My Kind Of Woman’ off their new EP is a cracker, keep an eye out for this band there is big things to come.

At 16 years old, on a balmy May Friday night way back in 1975. I rolled up to the Forestville Youth Centre (The Forrie Bop) tickets were a couple of dollars and the band on the night included the likes of Bon Scott, Angus Young, Malcolm Young, Paul Matters and Phil Rudd, yes ‘ACDC’ all for $2.00, can you believe that.
