Local muso, Charlie Raby, never thought he would wake up one morning to find all his gear gone. But that’s exactly what happened last week.

After returning from band practice around 10 pm last Saturday, Charlie parked in front of his house in Stockton. With another band practice to get to in the morning, he left all his gear in the car. The next morning it had all been stolen.

Charlie now finds himself in the position many musos fear most. And the worst thing is, Charlie is not alone. He now joins a string of local and national musicians who’ve had their gear stolen this year. It’s becoming a real problem, and it needs to stop.

Unfortunately, musical equipment is highly sought after in the second-hand goods market, and many people who fall victim to the petty theft of their gear never see it again.

Newcastle Live is now joining many other online communities in fighting this practice and educating the lowlifes who see musos and their gear as easy targets. We’re starting with Charlie.

Below you’ll see a list of the gear that was stolen from Charlie’s Car:

  • A Guild Starfire V Model Cherry (bright red)
  • A Mexican Fender Stratocaster (burnt out brown)
  • A Warwick Thumbase (black stain)
  • Bright silver pedal case
  • T electronics flashback delay (blue)
  • Governor Distortion pedal (gold)
  • Boss phaseshifter (green)
  • Boss super octave (brown)
  • A Purple Vibrato pedal

Here’s a few photos of the guitars:

If you have any information relating to the theft of Charlie’s gear you can drop us a line at rockon@newcastlelive.com.au or call crime stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Charlie’s band, Polar Chills, is headlining a gig at the Lass o Gowrie tonight (July 1). We encourage your to head along and show some support.
