Melbourne singer/songwriter Lincoln Le Fevre is headed to Newcastle this weekend. The city is quickly becoming a home away from home for the Tasmanian born artists – having toured through Newy multiple times; including a month long residency earlier in the year.
Lincoln Le Fevre will be bringing his firey backing band to The Lass O’Gowrie on Saturday September 9th. Joining him on the show will be Melbourne Emo-Folk outfit The Flying So High-Os, and an acoustic set from local singer/songwriter Rachel Maria Cox.
Lincoln is touring in support of his new album Come Undone, which was released througn Poison City Records in July. The album is a shining example of Lincoln Le Fevre’s natural tendency towards powerfull songwriting. Lincoln remains one of this nation’s most underrated songwriters, and tracks like ‘Useless Shit’ and ‘Stay Close’ are shining examples of that.
Come Undone also features a song called ‘Newcastle’; a intense and emotional track that closes out the first half of the album. We have a quick chat to Lincoln ahead of his show at The Lass to ask about the track:
“Not long after Resonation came out, [Drummer] Barney and I drove from Sydney to Newcastle on a stinking hot day, and as the sun was going down – the sky over the mountains darkened and this sense of foreboding began to set in. Lightning flashed over the hills ahead for the last hour of the drive until we reached The Lass O’Gowrie
It just happened to coincide with the end of a relationship, and the two events coincided in the most unfortunate kind of synchronicity.”
