The planned upgrade to Lake Macquarie’s “Speers Point Park will include the construction of the City’s first fenced dog park.
“For some time we have received requests from the community to provide a fenced dog park area to allow dog owners to exercise and socialise their dogs in an enclosed setting,” Council’s Manager Community Planning, John Ferguson said.
“It is hoped this new area will not only provide a space for dogs to exercise and play freely but will allow people to socialise, build a stronger community and encourage our residents to become more active as well.”
The fenced dog area, which will be approximately 10,000m2, will be located between Walters Park and Cockle Creek.
The Speers Point Park Master Plan, that includes the new dog park, is expected to start in the coming weeks.
