Local singer/songwriters Lachlan X. Morris and Boots Porter have teamed up right before the holidays; dropping four original Christmas into our stockings this year.
Lachlan X. Morris & Boots Porter… Do Christmas is a four-track Christmas EP, featuring two songs from both artists about the most wonderful time of year. This is two duos first official release together, but it’s not the first time the two have collaborated together. They have played many shows together throughout the year, and Porter frequently appears in Morris’ backing band The Unholy Communion.
Morris reveals that the project was originally inspired by The Beatles, but not in the way you might expect. “Brayden and I went to see the new Beatles doco at The Regal and on the drive home I confessed my love of Christmas, and more specifically, Christmas music” Morris explained. “We then decided then and there, driving past the Christmas lights in the first week of December, that we would make a Christmas split in our sad dad rock style”
From the original inspiration hitting in the first week of Summer, to the released project right before Christmas. Inspiration for the project came thick and fast. Porter was hoping that the split would “make the perfect Christmas light driving accompaniment”
“We made a last minute decision going into December that a Christmas split would be a fun little project because we could give into our cheesy pop sensibilities while also giving an insight into the melancholia/mixed feelings one sometimes feels heading into the season.”
