Country music icon Kasey Chambers will take centre stage at the Newcastle Writers Festival this November.

The ARIA Award winner will hit the stage at the Conservatorium of Music for a conversation with her friend and podcast host Danni Carr to discuss her recently released memoir Just Donโ€™t Be a D**khead and Other Profound Things Iโ€™ve Learnt!

The book, a mix of life lessons and personal anecdotes, draws from her experiences growing up in the Australian outback and her journey to international stardom. The memoir highlights her commitment to staying true to herself, with a title reflecting the simple but powerful advice she has always carried with her.

And it seems like it’s been pretty good advice. Alongside her ARIA Awards and ARIA Hall of Fame status, Chambers has picked up 24 Golden Guitars, and 10 APRA songwriting honors and her chart-topping hits, including Not Pretty Enough, and five No.1 albums have cemented her as one of Australiaโ€™s most enduring and beloved artists.

Despite all that, she has remained grounded, drawing on her personal experiences to connect with fans through her music and stories. And it’s those stories fans can expect to hear when she visits Newcastle as part of the Writer’s Festival

Kasey Chambers will light up the Newcastle Writer’s Festival on 2 November at the University of Newcastleโ€™s Conservatorium of Music. For more information and to book tickets visit newcastlewritersfestival.org.au.
