Jenny’s Place Simpson Desert Hike raises $115,000 for Domestic Violence and Homelessness Support
440 kilometres, 1,100 sand dunes and 22 days after crossing the Simpson Desert the Jennyโs Place hikers have raised $115,000 for Domestic Violence and Homelessness Support.
โThis will enable our DVRC caseworkers to continue to support women and children to plan their exit from violent relationships and rebuild their lives in safety.โ trek leader and Jennyโs Place Community Relations Coordinator, Donna George, said.

The amazing local hikers crossed the finish line at Birdsville earlier this month after a mammoth challenge showing real grit and mental and physical resilience.
They battled heat and humidity through the day and bitterly cold conditions at night, not to mention a category one cyclone, torrential rain and food and toilet paper rationing throw in for good measure.
But event though the trek has come to a finish, the work to continue to raise funds for the vital work Jennyโs Place does in our community is not over.
You can listen back to our live crosses to the hikers to find out why they chose to take part and raise funds below, and head to jennysplace.org to find out how you can support this amazing local charity.
