Micky Dolenz is bringing 60 years of The Monkees to Newcastle, with the rock ’n’ roll icon set to perform at the Civic Theatre in May 2027.
The Australian tour will see Dolenz celebrate the enduring legacy of the band and the beloved television series that turned The Monkees into one of the defining pop culture phenomena of the 1960s.
His brand-new show, Micky Dolenz: 60 Years of The Monkees, will take audiences on a musical and visual journey through the band’s history.
The performance will feature The Monkees’ biggest hits performed in chronological order, backed by a multimedia presentation featuring key moments from the band’s story.
Fans can expect classics including I’m a Believer, Last Train to Clarksville, Pleasant Valley Sunday, Daydream Believer, Randy Scouse Git, I’m Not Your Stepping Stone and Sometime in the Morning.
The show also looks beyond the band’s greatest hits, with Dolenz set to perform songs from his new six-track EP Timeless.
The release arrives in September ahead of the 60th anniversary of The Monkees television series, which debuted in the US on 12 September 1966. The EP’s first single, Terri, was written by Paul Westerberg.
Formed around Dolenz, Michael Nesmith, Peter Tork and Davy Jones, The Monkees became an international sensation through their television series and music.
The band won two Emmys, sold millions of records and achieved a remarkable run of four consecutive No. 1 albums, a feat no other band has matched.
