The Huxton Creepers are heading to Newcastle this August, celebrating 40 years of 12 Days to Paris with a special Hamilton Station Hotel show and their first new music in more than 35 years.
The beloved Australian guitar-pop outfit has announced the release of new single Opposites Attract / Midnight TV, arriving on 23 July, ahead of a national anniversary tour that will see the band perform their acclaimed 1986 debut album 12 Days to Paris in full for the first time ever.
Newcastle fans will be able to catch the celebration at Hamilton Station Hotel in August.
The double A-side marks the band’s first new material since 1990, reuniting original members Rob Craw, Matthew Eddy and Arch Law, alongside new guitarist and longtime friend Julian Matthews of The Stems.
The songs blend the melodic guitar hooks and rich songwriting that made The Huxton Creepers favourites of Australia’s pub rock scene throughout the 1980s while introducing fresh material for longtime fans.
The anniversary celebrations also coincide with the 40th anniversary reissue of 12 Days to Paris, now available on vinyl and digital platforms for the first time after years of legal limbo.
Widely regarded as one of Australia’s standout rock debuts, the album includes fan favourites including I Will Persuade You, My Cherie Amour, Autumn Leaves, King of the Road and Don’t Even Think About It.
Alongside the complete album performance, audiences can expect a set packed with classics spanning the band’s career.
Joining The Huxton Creepers on the New South Wales dates will be legendary rock’n’rollers The Johnnys, adding even more energy to a tour celebrating one of Australia’s most influential guitar bands, whose legacy helped inspire later acts including Powderfinger and You Am I.
