Hunter Workers call for support for casual workers and the introduction of Jobkeeper 2.0

Hunter Workers is calling on the NSW government to provide all casual employees paid sick leave. This will ensure casual workers will not be forced to choose between staying home when they are sick or going to work in order to put food on the table.

They have also called on the Australian Government for the creation of Jobkeeper 2.0 with continued concerns about community transmitted Covid 19 demonstrated the emergency has yet to pass.

The pandemic is far from over across the country as workers in the Greater Sydney region will struggle to get by on the current meagre support payments. Secretary of Hunter Workers, Leigh Shears joined Newcastle in the Morning.
