Newcastle Beer Fest is set to return to King Edward Park with a new chapter under the management of GABS and a bigger celebration of independent craft beer on the cards.
The festival, which will celebrate its 11th edition next year, was acquired by Dr Jerry Schwartz earlier in 2026.
The move brings the Newcastle event under the same umbrella as GABS Festival, with more than two decades of experience delivering major food, wine and craft beer events.
Set against the coastal backdrop of King Edward Park, Newcastle Beer Fest will once again bring together local and interstate independent breweries alongside live music, quality food vendors and a relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere.
More than 30 breweries are expected to take part, with the festival maintaining its focus on independent producers.
Several breweries have already signed up for the 2027 event, including Zig Zag Brewery, Sydney Brewery, The Coastal Brewing and Spudd Wiser Beer.
Organisers are also inviting applications from independent breweries and quality food vendors, with the festival aiming to showcase the region’s food and beverage scene while giving the independent craft beer industry a boost.
The festival’s new era is also expected to provide a lift for Newcastle’s tourism and hospitality sectors, while giving the event greater reach through GABS’ national footprint.
The Newcastle Beer Fest joins GABS’ other community-focused festivals, including the Canberra Beer & Cider Festival and Hunter Valley Wine & Beer Festival.
