Lizzy Hoo brings her brand-new stand-up show Says Hoo? to Newcastle for two performances this July as part of the Newcastle Comedy Festival.
Fresh from a whirlwind year on television, podcasting and international travel, Lizzy Hoo is heading to the Playhouse with a brand-new hour of comedy that finds humour in the bizarre twists and turns of everyday life.
Says Hoo? promises a fast-paced collection of stories, observations and self-deprecating laughs, delivered in the comedian’s trademark warm and relatable style.
The new show dives into the moments that leave you wondering, “How did we get here?” From sharing custody of her rescue greyhound with its “step mum” to becoming unexpectedly obsessed with golf as preparation for retirement, Hoo embraces life’s stranger chapters with plenty of laughs.
Audiences can also expect stories about getting paid to eat and travel, ending a relationship at a cake shop, and updating her dating profile to describe herself as having “big second wife energy”.
It’s been a huge year for the comedian, with appearances on Have You Been Paying Attention? and Crime Night, while also fronting an airline campaign across Asia.
Alongside her stand-up career, Hoo continues to connect with audiences as the creator and host of The Lizzy Hoo Show podcast.
Presented by Newcastle Comedy Festival, the one-hour performance is designed to keep audiences laughing from start to finish, with no interval.
Whether you’re already a fan or discovering Hoo for the first time, Says Hoo? offers an entertaining snapshot of modern life through one of Australia’s sharpest comedic voices.
Lizzy Hoo’s Says Hoo? will be performed at the Playhouse, Civic Theatre Newcastle, on Saturday 25 July, with shows at 5pm and 7pm. Tickets are $40 plus booking fees and are available now through civictheatrenewcastle.com.au.
