Local historian Ed Tonks is inviting rail enthusiasts to join him on an epic train journey this November.
Presented by History Illuminated, the event will see ticket holders board a 1923 vintage 42-Foot Rail Motor bound for Hawkesbury River station.
Boarding options include Broadmeadow station, Cardiff station and Fassifern station.
While there are three options to board the train organisers recommend getting on by Cardiff Station to ensure they get to hear all of Ed Tonksโ commentary.
A member of the Australian Railway Historical Society since the 1970s, Ed has written seventeen books and calendars dealing with aspects of the railway history of the Hunter Region and has been acknowledged in many publications for his expertise and images.
After arriving at Hawkesbury River Station, train buffs will be given two hours to enjoy a BYO picnic or lunch at one of the local cafes or eateries in Brooklyn which are only a five-minute walk from the station.
The Heritage Rail Motor Journey with Ed Tonks is happening on Thursday, 3 November 2022. Tickets and full details including departure and arrival times can be found at lakemac.com.au/Events/.
