After years of providing access to educational opportunities through performing arts programs and events, Atwea College has announced that they will sell their beloved venue, The CAS, in Hamilton.

In a statement, Atwea said that despite public performance attendance picking back up after the COVID-19 pandemic lockdowns, community interest in the educational programs that largely support the space has remained low.

This, coupled with the building works required, has left the not-for-profit community-based organization unable to sustain the venue any longer.

The college is hopeful that community and arts organizations will be able to successfully bid on the venue so that it can continue to serve its intended purpose.

It’s a space that has brought much joy to the local arts community and many memories made at the theatre over its long life.

Advertising for the sale of The CAS will be made public in the coming weeks. You can read the Atwea statement about the sale in full on their website.
