It was the popular Newcastle West eatery that was tragically destroyed by fire back in June 2018.

Well, like a phoenix rising from the ashes, The Edwards Bar will resume trade again from this Wednesday!

Taking to Instagram on Monday, management posted a short video that teased “guess who is back…?” before showing a montage of Edwards good times.

Speaking to Newcastle Live on Monday, Chris Dunn, who runs the Edwards Shop said that the culture store would also make a welcome return to the site but not for “a few weeks, yet.”

The brainchild of Silverchair bass player Chris Joannou, Chris Johnston and Tim Leveson, The Edwards became a popular fixture on the Novo eat scene. However, the fun came to a crashing halt in 2018 when fire gutted the funky eatery.

After the tragedy, management took to social media to declare: “As we process the enormity of what went down last night, we are absolutely blown away by the love and support that has poured in from our beloved Newy and wider community – for this, words alone will never do, itโ€™s all feels.

“Chris & Chris would like to thank YOU for making The Edwards what it is, for the amazing outpouring of love and all the good, good times. It will be a while before we know any of the things you might be wondering, so sit tight and weโ€™ll get back to you when we can.”

The Edwards is located at 148 Parry Street, Newcastle
