It was the popular Newcastle West eatery that was tragically destroyed by fire back in June 2018.
Well, like a phoenix rising from the ashes, The Edwards Bar will resume trade again from this Wednesday!
Taking to Instagram on Monday, management posted a short video that teased “guess who is back…?” before showing a montage of Edwards good times.
Speaking to Newcastle Live on Monday, Chris Dunn, who runs the Edwards Shop said that the culture store would also make a welcome return to the site but not for “a few weeks, yet.”
The brainchild of Silverchair bass player Chris Joannou, Chris Johnston and Tim Leveson, The Edwards became a popular fixture on the Novo eat scene. However, the fun came to a crashing halt in 2018 when fire gutted the funky eatery.
After the tragedy, management took to social media to declare: “As we process the enormity of what went down last night, we are absolutely blown away by the love and support that has poured in from our beloved Newy and wider community – for this, words alone will never do, itโs all feels.
“Chris & Chris would like to thank YOU for making The Edwards what it is, for the amazing outpouring of love and all the good, good times. It will be a while before we know any of the things you might be wondering, so sit tight and weโll get back to you when we can.”
The Edwards is located at 148 Parry Street, Newcastle
