The Great MAC Easter Egg Hunt is just one of the events planned for Lake Macquarie City Council’s egg-citing school holiday program.
Hunters will hit the grounds of the Museum of Art and Culture, yapang, in search of delicious Easter eggs on Sunday 9 April as part of the holiday event that also includes artmaking workshops, performances by The Amazing Jono and a look around the Archibald Prize 2022 Regional Tour exhibition.
But that’s just the start of the action Lake Mac has planned for the school holidays.
Other events include a hands-on magic workshop, MineCraft-inspired Lego building, digital drawing sessions and craft workshops.
According to Lifelong Learning and Audience Engagement Coordinator Kirrily Anderson, this year’s Easter holiday program has something for everyone.
“We’ve lined up a range of accessible, affordable events designed to excite and inspire kids of all ages,” Kirrily said.
Lake Mac Libraries will also be putting smiles on the faces of creative and constructive kids, with digital drawing lessons, craft sessions, Lego building and more.
For music enthusiasts, Rathmines Theatre, nawayiba, will host Hot Potato Band on Saturday 15 April.
This brass collective will bring fresh energy to children’s concerts with their quirky and interactive performance that reinvents the traditional New Orleans brass style.
Lake Macquarie Mayor Kay Fraser said school holidays were a wonderful time to get children involved in events happening around the city.
“It’s a chance for kids to meet new friends, get creative and learn new skills in their community,” she said.
