In a remarkable achievement for a six-month-old brewery, Good Folk Brewing has clinched a gold medal at the prestigious 2023 Australian Independent Beer Awards.

It was the Good Folk Danny’s Wedge Tropical Pale Ale that captured the judges’ hearts and taste buds – a huge win for the beer’s first entry into a competition.

The elated owners, Phil and John Elsley, couldn’t contain their pride and gratitude, particularly towards their talented head brewer, James Horne.

“We had a vision for our tropical pale ale, and it holds a special place in our hearts. To receive recognition from our industry peers is simply awesome,” Phil said.

“We extend a huge thank you to James for his unwavering dedication and meticulous craftsmanship in perfecting this brew. Our regulars already adore it, and we know it will continue to win hearts for years to come.”

The timing of this remarkable achievement couldn’t be more perfect, as the Sydney GABS (Great Australasian Beer SpecTAPular) event is set to commence this Friday.

Good Folk Brewing’s Danny’s Wedge Tropical Pale Ale, now proudly celebrated as their hero beer, has secured a coveted place among the Up and Comers Bar at GABS, making them one of just three invited breweries. The anticipation for its reception at the event is sky-high.

Craft beer enthusiasts and curious newcomers alike can indulge in the award-winning Danny’s Wedge Tropical Pale Ale at various craft beer bars and bottle shops across Newcastle.

For the convenience of beer lovers near and far, the brew is also available for purchase online, ensuring that the taste of success can be savoured wherever one may be.
