We try the Ginger Meg’s Bottomless Yum Cha on for size

It had been a little while since our first visit to Ginger Meg’s and what better reason to return than the chance to try their Bottomless Yum Cha offering.

Our lunch started as all good lunches start these days – plenty of hand sanitiser and an easy QR code check-in system to assist with COVID safe operations. The spacious dining room at this King Street, Newcastle eatery has plenty of space to cater for socially distanced seating so we are all set.

Unleash the Yum Cha!

For $50 per person (minimum bookings of 2 people) you receive one portion of seven delectable Asian inspired treats each. The food is served in stages and is accompanied by “bottomless” drinks. Following all responsible service of alcohol guidelines, of course.

THE FOOD

During our lunch, we were treated to delicate dumplings, a duck spring roll and some saucy san choy bao.

But the standout and our personal favourite dish was the tender yet crisp Salt & Pepper Squid. It was served with lemongrass, coriander, lemon, a little chilli and topped with thin slices of fragrant kaffir lime leaf.

Seriously delicious!

THE DRINKS

Included in the cost of your Yum Cha are the following bottomless beverages:
Espresso Martini
Tap Spritz Cocktail Specials
Apple Cider
Lager
Soft Drink

Just remember each person can only order one drink at a time.

Our pick of the tap cocktail specials was the Ginger Aperol Spritz. It was a refreshing, easy-drinking blend of Aperol, ginger beer, and sparkling wine.

We found it to be the perfect match to the food served.

The Ginger Meg’s Bottom Yum Cha lunch is currently available each Sunday and from the October long weekend onwards it will also be available on Saturdays. You can find more details here.
