This Thursday, 30 September, Camp Quality is calling on all Aussies to strike a pose in their favourite bucket hat.

It’s all part of the national childrenโ€™s cancer charity’s launch of National Bucket Hat Day, an initiative set up to support children impacted by cancer.

You can get involved wearing your own bucket hat or buying a Camp Quality hat from event partner ALDI Australia, donating and posting a selfie with the hashtag #BucketHatDay.

All funds that are raised from the Day will go to help fund programs and services for kids facing cancer.

The day is part of September’s Childhood Cancer Awareness Month which Camp Quality CEO, Deborah Thomas said is a time not only to raise money but also a chance to raise awareness of childhood cancer.

“Camp Quality supports over 9000 kids impacted by cancer who are registered for our services and programs, and with childhood cancer on the increase, the demand for our services is greater than ever before, Deborah Thomas said.

In 2020, it was estimated that around 870 children aged between 0 – 14 years were diagnosed with cancer, and approximately 16,000 children aged up to 15 years are impacted by a parent or primary carerโ€™s cancer.

Camp Quality ambassador and Wiggle, Lachy Gillespie said he is proud to shine a light on children impacted by cancer.

“Visiting children in hospital with The Wiggles, I see first-hand the heartbreaking impact of cancer on families. Iโ€™m always amazed at the incredible strength of the children. Thatโ€™s why Iโ€™m proud to shine a light on children across the country who are impacted by cancer by wearing my bucket hat,” says Lachy.
