Gerry Joe Weise has established himself as a blues rock musician of international acclaim, and currently sits at number one of the Reverb Nation Blues chart for Newcastle.
Beginning his career as a soloist in the 1990s Gerry Joe Weise has certainly made a mark from himself on the international music scene. Guitarist, singer and songwriter born in Australia, he has performed throughout the world with such renown and legendary artists as Eric Clapton, B.B. King, Ray Charles, Buddy Guy, John Lee Hooker, Albert Collins, Noel Redding and The Yardbirds, among others. He has been the recipient of various international awards and accolades, including being named number 1 on the Top Electric Blues charts in Australia (MP3.com.au). He has 8 solo albums signed to the Chicago based Blues Breaking Records label / Sony Music, including the recent 2014 release : “Stormy Sydney, 20th Anniversary”, celebrating 20 years as a Solo Recording Artist, from 1994 to 2014.
Rolling Stone magazine describes Weise’s guitar style as new and exciting, with 365 Ink Magazine saying that he was “a must see for any fan of Hendrix-style blues guitar”. Often found jamming at the Great Northern open mic nights, Gerry is looking forward to taking to the stage at the Broadbeach Blues Fest in May.
