A whopping crowd of more than 20,000 revellers lined the shores of Lake Macquarie over the weekend for the Float Your Boat Festival.
A colourful flotilla of more than 20 illuminated boats enthralled the crowd, with a giant T-Rex, that towered 10 metres above the water dropping more than a few jaws.
Other quirky creations included a giant koala styled on a classic Women’s Weekly children’s birthday cake, a pineapple and a buffed-out rendition of the sea-god Poseidon.
“Its success is a great credit to all the boaties who put time and effort into making such spectacular floating displays. Without them, this event couldn’t happen,” Lake Macquarie Mayor Kay Fraser said.
Voting opens on Monday for the event’s People’s Choice Award, where fans pick their favourite floating light installation via Council’s Facebook page.
