Newcastle’s business and community leaders will brave a cold winter’s night in June as part of the 2025 Vinnies CEO Sleepout.

Marking its 20th anniversary, the annual event will see executives swap their warm beds for sleeping bags, raising critical funds to combat homelessness in the region and across Australia.

Thousands of people in New South Wales experience housing insecurity each night, and local services are struggling to meet demand.

While Vinnies NSW provided assistance to nearly 7,000 individuals and families in the past year, over 3,000 people remained unassisted due to a lack of resources.

Events like the CEO Sleepout aim to bridge that gap by funding emergency accommodation, food, healthcare, and practical support.

Since its inception in 2006, the CEO Sleepout has grown from a grassroots effort to a nationwide movement, raising nearly $100 million to support homelessness services.

This year, the New South Wales event aims to raise $3 million, with Newcastle playing a key role in the fundraising effort.

Participating leaders will not only raise money but also gain firsthand insight into the struggles faced by the city’s most vulnerable residents.

The 20th anniversary of Vinnies CEO Sleepout is happening on Thursday, 19 June 2025. Newcastle’s business community is being urged to take part by signing up, fundraising, and spreading awareness. For more information, head to ceosleepout.org.au.
