Origami Festival returns to the Central Coast this April with a two-day celebration of art, light and sound.
Now in its fourth year, the boutique event will once again transform the serene Edogawa Japanese Gardens into a glowing after-dark wonderland, offering Novocastrians a creative escape just down the road.
After three consecutive sell-outs, Origami has expanded into a full weekend program across 10–11 April, cementing its status as one of the region’s most enchanting cultural experiences.
Presented by the team at Fun Haus Factory, Origami has built a reputation for immersive, intimate events that blend music, performance, technology and nature.
Often described as “Vivid meets Dark Mofo,” the festival offers something different to large-scale city events, a carefully curated atmosphere where audiences wander through illuminated gardens, discover surprise performances and take in world-class projection works in a tranquil outdoor setting.
This year’s edition introduces the debut of Origami Kids, aimed at children aged 2–12, the twilight adventure features roaming characters, interactive light installations, circus performers, creative play zones and a Moonlight Disco beneath the trees.
Local families visiting from Newcastle will find a hands-on, playful entry point into the festival’s magical world.
The flagship 18+ Origami Festival returns on Saturday 11 April with a lineup that mixes live electronic music, avant-garde performance and dazzling visual art.
Highlights include internationally renowned duo Stereogamous, alongside live sets from Heart Armour and Yo Oo Ya, plus projection art by St.Luc Visuals.
Guests are invited to dress creatively, from glowing garden-party outfits to full fantasy couture, adding to the festival’s vibrant atmosphere.
With visitors regularly travelling from both Sydney and Newcastle, Origami has become a popular excuse for a weekend getaway, pairing a daytime wander through coastal cafés and beaches with an immersive arts experience at night. Its blend of intimacy, creativity and connection continues to set it apart as one of NSW’s most unique cultural offerings.
Origami takes place at the Edogawa Japanese Gardens on Friday, 10 April, Origami Kids and Saturday, 11 April, Origami Festival 18+. Capacity is limited, and early booking is recommended. Tickets and event information are available at funhausfactory.org.au.
