Flickerfest brings 2022 programme to the Civic Theatre Playhouse

It’s that time of the year again! Flickerfest will return to the Civic Theatre Playhouse on Saturday 21st of May.

It’s a night only affair over two sessions of Award Winning Australian shorts and Short Laughs comedy handpicked from Flickerfest’s 31st birthday festival held in Bondi in January.

Best of Australian Shorts

Flickerfest brings its kaleidoscopic of inspiring, award-winning Australia Shorts, including homegrown Newcastle stories sharing the big screen with award-winning, star-studded shorts fresh from Flickerfest’s Bondi competition programmes.

Catch lauded Newcastle filmmaker Thomas Hudson’s cheeky and charming Sex Lives, alongside quirky black space comedy The Home Team starring the legendary Paul McDermott and Tara Morice.

Ticket holders can enjoy a complimentary drink and meet the Flickerfest Team with Thomas Hudson who will be at the Civic to introduce his film.

Short Laughs Comedy

The Short Laughs Comedy programme will light up the big screen from 9:00 pm featuring hilarious, clever and cheeky comedies from Australia and across the globe.

Highlights include the UK/French animation Affairs Of The Art, recently nominated for an Oscar for Best Animated Short Film, screening alongside Nash Edgerton’s hilarious black comedy Shark starring Nash and Rose Byrne and from Bonnie Scotland, the sensational Don Vs Lightning, starring the legendary Peter Mullan as a man who wants is a quiet life in the Scottish Highlands, alas the universe has other plans.
