Take a revealing journey through the human body from the perspective of a visitor from outer space through Humanoid Discovery, a travelling exhibition from Scitech Perth, on display at Newcastle Museum from 14 October 2016 to 30 January 2017.

Have you ever stopped to consider how amazing the human body really is? Are you curious about how different body systems and organs function? The body is involved in incredible processes every minute of the day, from the seemingly simple act of breathing to how you digest food, how the skin functions, how hair grows, and how you identify smell.

Lord Mayor Cr Nuatali Nelmes said she is pleased that Newcastle Museum is able to bring this exhibition to our city.

“Humanoid Discovery educates both children and adults about the human body’s inner workings with highly interactive exhibits,” said the Lord Mayor. “As a mum, I’m really excited to take my own children to see this exhibition. It’s great when they’re having so much fun they don’t even realise that they are also learning.”

“This exhibition is going to be very popular as an attraction for teachers and school groups and it will also be a great activity for families over the Christmas break.”

Museum Manager Julie Baird said the exhibition, designed for humans of all ages, provides a great mix of fun and learning.

โ€œHumanoid Discovery is our big blockbuster exhibition for the summer,” said Baird. “Imagine you’re an alien who just landed on Earth and your mission is to study these curious life forms called humans. You are seeing the human body for the first time and figuring out how it works. This exhibition helps us appreciate all of the things our body does every day without us even knowing it — it’s quite an impressive and magnificent organism.”

“The 25 interactive science exhibits take visitors on a tour of the human body and its inner workings. The exhibition is designed to be very hands-on and makes learning about the body an enjoyable experience for the whole family.”
