Last week we popped into the Wickham Park Hotel to sample a schooner of the new Extra Pale Ale (XPA) brewed by local legends, Murray’s Brewing. While we were there we had the chance to jam with one of Newcastle’s finest musical exports, Grant Walmsley. Here’s how you can jam with him too.
Jam with the guy who wrote Better
Grant has a bag of great songs under his belt, but you’d have to be dead not to have heard the Aussie anthem, Better. And now you can jam alongside the guy who wrote it on the 3rd Thursday of the month right here in Newcastle as part of the Grant Walmsley Jam night at The Wicko.
Everyone is welcome to jump up. Just bring your instrument and make sure you put your hand up when Grant calls out for people who want to jam. It’s that easy!
Share the stage with some of Newcastle’s best musos and songwriters
It’s not only Grant on stage. Last week we were blown away by the songwriting of local artist who we were introduced to us as Nathan. The songs were well crafted, full of hooks and delivered from the heart. We’ll be finding out more about him and sharing it with you soon.
So how was the beer?
Ok, ok… So now to the beer.
Murray’s say their XPA is made from classic and new world American hops that ramp up the tropical fruit notes to produce a full hop flavoured beer that’s easy to drink. We say it’s very drinkable, we had a second schooner just to make sure…
And it’s Murrays shout!
To celebrate the new XPA, Murray’s Brewery has teamed up with The Wickham Park Hotel to shout your first beer! See venue staff for full details.
