Ella Hooper is saddling up for a new Americana era, with the Killing Heidi frontwoman set to bring her Overnight Success tour to Newcastle’s Stag & Hunter in October.
The tour arrives shortly after the release of Hooper’s fourth solo album, Overnight Success, which is due out on 2 October.
The 11-track record continues the country and Americana direction explored on her 2023 album Small Town Temple, which debuted at number one on the Australian Country chart.
The latest taste of the record is Cowboy Man, a playful country-rock track that dives headfirst into the mythology of the American West.
Complete with dusty saloons, neon lights and plenty of Hooper’s trademark wit, the song takes a mischievous look at the current cowboy and cowgirl country-pop craze.
It follows previous singles Growing Up Is Hard To Do, I Got Eyes (On You) and When The Shit Went Down, offering another glimpse into an album that balances shimmering Americana with stories about heartbreak, family, getting older, desire and resilience.
Hooper recorded much of the album in Nashville and has described the new record as a major step forward in her songwriting and exploration of Americana.
Her live show will bring that new material to the stage alongside the experience of an artist whose career has included four ARIA Awards with Killing Heidi, a number one album and a string of hit singles.
Ella Hooper’s Overnight Success tour comes to the Stag & Hunter on Thursday, 8 October, with Ruby Mae joining as support. Cowboy Man is out now, while Overnight Success is released on 2 October.
