Along with its delectable regular menu, Doughheads is certainly no slouch when it comes to tempting the sweet teeth of Newcastle with its eclectic and creative range of weekly specials.
Well, this week the Junction-based doughnuttery is really pushing the boat out.
Aside from this week’s guest stars – Low Gluten Banana Cake and Vegan Low Gluten Champagne Showers doughnuts, Doughheads is also offering up a sweet trio of ‘adults only’ treats as part of a collaboration with artisanal confectioner Confettio.
First cab off the rank is the Lemon Fizz – a drool-worthy circle of awesomeness featuring Prosecco-infused lemon curd, torched Italian meringue with raspberry and Limoncello candy.
If that wasn’t enough to pique your interest, the Cowboy Cocktail, Doughheads’ take on a certain risque beverage popular in venues like Jacks on King in the ’90s should do the trick.
Think butterscotch icing and sauce with Bailey’s buttercream and topped with Confettio Irish Cream candy.
This trifecta of treats is rounded out by the equally enticing Bearies & Champagne a colourful concoction featuring house-made raspberry jam, pink champagne icing, vanilla buttercream and Confettio Prosecco Bubbly Bears.
You’re going to have to get in quick to sample these delicious doughnuts because they’re only around until the end of the week.
In fact, the Bearies & Champagne will be available on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, the Cowboy Cocktail on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, while the Lemon Fizz is on offer every day until Sunday.
